PMR radios generally do not work very well over long distances. A lot of people, when they used a PMR two way radio, will expect it to travel extremely long distances just like a mobile phone.
However, PMR two way radios do not generally travel as far as mobile phones. This is because they do not use satellites and communication hubs to relay messages across the globe. PMR radios simply transmit messages and receive messages and if you’re trying to receive a message over long-distance it is likely that there will be some interference. New on the better your PMR radio is at sending and receiving signals the further your message will carry.
One method to increase the range at which a PMR radio will function is to submit signals from a tall building or hill. It also helps to avoid blackages such as walls, which will block the communications coming through.
Although PMR radios do sometimes not work over long distances they are great for communications over shorter distances.
PMR radios are used in the running of many events, such as concerts, and many different organizations such as taxi firms, transportation companies and even the police force.
